EGX 2018 – The Bradwell Conspiracy Interview
Friday Oct 12, 2018
Friday Oct 12, 2018
Of the many people that gave up their time to talk to us over the course of EGX 2018, Georg Backer and Holly Pickering from A Brave Plan went above and beyond in keeping Matt and Ali entertained whilst Andy played the intro sections of The Bradwell Conspiracy. We’ll not bore you with that hour because there’s a much more interesting conversation to be had about how the game came about, what’s driving the design style, how the world was thought up, and how they’ve picked some of the voice talent. There’s a lot of passion and excitement about the game from the team and it’s shaping up to be a great experience when it finally releases.

EGX 2018 – Metro Exodus Interview
Wednesday Oct 10, 2018
Wednesday Oct 10, 2018
It’s one of our most anticipated games for 2019, Metro Exodus is shaping up to not just be the continuation of Artyom’s journey through the post apocalyptic ruins of Russia, but also the resolution of the events that started in the Metro 2035 book. We got the opportunity at EGX 2018 to talk to Huw Benyon who’s the head of global brand management for Deep Silver and find out more about the game’s premise and ethos. There might be a cheeky non-Metro question chucked in too at the end…

EGX 2018 – Hitman 2 Interview
Friday Oct 05, 2018
Friday Oct 05, 2018
With the next highly anticipated instalment of the Hitman series coming very soon, Stuart Cullen and Ali Cornwall got the chance to speak to Sven Liebold from IO Interactive about everyone’s favourite murder simulator. We can’t apologise enough for the audio, the room was very noisy, but there’s a lot of good info so persevere with the background babble (we know the culprits and will be publishing a lengthy interview with them soon!).

Another EGX Been and Gone
Saturday Sep 29, 2018
Saturday Sep 29, 2018
We went. We saw. We chatted. EGX 2018 ended up being a very busy couple of days of playing games, interviewing developers, and walking… a lot. So what better way to sum it up than to grab some guests and talk through what our favourite parts were and if there was anything we regretted not seeing.
In this episode of the Codec Moments Podcast, you’ll hear:
- Stuart Cullen making a return to remind us all why his weekly page is called Scotch Corner
- Ali Cornwall suspiciously spending a lot of time recording with us
- What individually our favourite three things were – that’s 12 in total for anyone who wants the maths doing for them!
- How many miles walked each day
- A dodgy voicemail
- The amount of time we spent talking to the people who actually make the games

Pre-GX 2018
Thursday Sep 20, 2018
Thursday Sep 20, 2018
Very soon we’ll be heading down the M1 to visit a massive building that each year gets filled with the latest and greatest games – it’s nearly time for EGX 2018! We figured we’re on a roll and decided to pull together another yet another episode, this time joined by Ali Cornwall for a pre-GX chat about what our must see’s are at this year’s show.
In this brief episode you’ll hear:
- the coincidence of the year as they all put the same game as number one on their must see list
- a strange amount of Nintendo love
- an honourable mention or two
- and you won’t ever find out what Matt’s original bonus game was…

Regular listeners will already know that we’ve recorded each of the monthly #CodecMomentum updates over the last few months, but just haven’t got them edited and released (we’re rubbish, we know). Well wait no longer gaming fans! Here comes the biggest, longest Codec Momentum update in the history of our podcast. We’re bringing you all the action from the last 4 rounds of the 2018 championship in… Mega Momentum!
In this extra special Mega Momentum round up of the 2018 community competition you won’t find out what’s going on with 2017’s trophies, but you will learn:
- What happened in May and who won the monthly prize,
- The Q2 medal winners and why they deserve the extra momentum,
- Whether we’ve had any team member cosplay,
- Some stats… but not enough to make it boring,
- Movers and shakers in July,
- Who our intrepid reporter is,
- August’s latest info and the battles throughout the leaderboard,
- Why we’ll be more careful in future over our “concept” episodes.

The Calm Before The Games Storm
Wednesday Sep 12, 2018
Wednesday Sep 12, 2018
Alright, alright… we know we’re a bit lax with this whole podcasting business and it’s far too long between episodes, but we’re about to make up for it. Over the next few weeks there’s Mega Momentum and EGX 2018 which will mean loads and loads of time you’ll have to spend listening to us talking about games. Lucky people! Whilst we were recapping the last few months of #CodecMomentum we got asked a couple of questions that didn’t really fit in the update and were too good to ignore, so here they are!
Listen to this short interlude to discover:
- What’s the most expensive game Andy and Matt have ever bought
- How long was cut out because they spent too much time digging through old collectors editions
- Why they play video games – a more existential question than you’d think
